Story Of The Year | Nashville, TN

On January 24th, Nashville celebrated the 20th anniversary of Story of the Year’s Page Avenue with the band. With the lineup that released the iconic album two decades ago unchanged, the band gave Nashville fans a nostalgic night and also presented highlights from their latest album Tear Me to Pieces.

As soon as frontman Dan Marsala walked on stage, fans ran wild with excitement as the band started playing their first song "And the Hero Will Drown.” Marsala's bandmates quickly joined the stage, and their enthusiasm and energy were unmatched. Fans screamed every lyric to one of the most iconic albums that marked the emo era in the early 2000s. Marsala talked to fans while onstage, including a young boy that was ten years old, stating "this album is older than you.” He commented how great it was to see the next generation of fans joining their parents at the shows. It was amazing to see fans from all ages, I was even able to see a mother and her newborn son rocking to the songs. All members of the band had a frantic energy, moving from side to side, jumping around and interacting with the crowd. Their setlist included songs from their other albums as well, including the hits "War" and "Afterglow" from Tear Me To Pieces. At the end of the set, the band did a quick medley of top songs from the emo era, covering my Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday and even The Used. The whole band showed that they are still going strong and can put on a great show for new and old fans, even after all these years.

Maris Souza

Hello! my name is Mariana but everyone knows me by Maris. I have been holding a camera since I was 9 years old and haven’t stopped ever since. I was born and raised in Brazil and moved to Nashville a decade ago. In 2020 I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BFA in Photography and Media Art and have been working with musicians and bands since then! The adrenaline of photographing live concerts is one of my favorite feelings and I can’t ever get enough of it.
