2023 is coming to a close and the year has been packed full of some of the most iconic albums celebrating their twentieth anniversaries. On December 2nd, Bottom Lounge in Chicago hosted Mae on their Destination: Beautiful twenty-year anniversary tour. Tedious & Brief and Hembree were brought along for support.

Tedious & Brief’s vocalist Jamie is from Chicago, so this ended up being a nice hometown show for them. As Jamie danced and jumped around the stage as they kicked off the evening playing some high energy alternative pop music to a nearly sold out room.

Hembree took the stage next, effortlessly keeping the crowd in motion and grooving to their flavorful indie rock tunes.

The time came for Mae to take the stage, with a slow and dramatic opening in “Tisbury Lane” and “Bloom.” The crowd joined in when the band played “Embers and Envelopes,” loudly singing back to Mae as if the song was their own. Mae kept the energy high throughout their performance of “Soundtrack For Our Movie” and “Summertime.” As the night reached its close, Mae brought it home with a three-song encore - the last of which was fan favorite “Suspension.”
