Luna Li | Portland, OR

Luna Li returned to Portland, Oregon at Polaris Hall for her first headline tour in support of her album When a Thought Grows Wings. She brought along Brooklyn, NY native, John Roseboro, as support.

John Roseboro smoothly started the evening strumming his acoustic guitar and flashing smiles into the crowd. His fingers hardly stopped strumming between songs as he connected with the crowd, cracking jokes, leading sing-a-longs, and taking polls if he should sing a love or breakup song. He made a point during his set to take in the crowd and get a good look at them. His delicate voice enlightened the crowd as he played new songs from his week-old album, Fools.

Luna Li started her set with a trio of songs from her latest album that shares the same name as the tour. The crowd grooved along, and it wouldn't be a Luna Li show if there weren't electric guitar riffs, and they continued throughout the night. The crowd was overjoyed when she followed up with a medley from her Jams EP where she changed instruments throughout. She would continue throughout the evening playing multiple instruments, including the harp, violin, and most notably the flute (which she had only begun learning earlier that year). Based on a poll of cheers that Luna held, it was a majority of fans' first time seeing her perform, but it didn't stop them from singing along to a few songs, including “Minnie Says,” a song inspired by Minnie Ripperton. The crowd was definitely entranced by Luna Li's melodies and instrumentals as they danced and swayed throughout the night.
